French Food in Rhode Island
Rhode Island is a state that has a lot of French influence, especially in terms of its food. As such, visitors to the state can find many restaurants specializing in serving French cuisine. One of the most popular and delicious French dishes served in restaurants throughout Rhode Island is steak au poivre.
Steak au poivre literally translates to steak with pepper or pepper steak. Most Rhode Island restaurants prepare the dish by cooking a filet mignon to the diner's preference and coating it with cracked peppercorns. The taste of the two is slightly spice and also makes for a nice melding of two very different types of flavors.
